The former Department of Education in Sydney’s sandstone precinct has become a lesson in luxury accommodation, cuisine and cultural immersion.

International accommodation group Capella Hotels and Resorts acquired the heritage building and opened in March. Spanning eight levels, 192 guestrooms and suites are anchored by three ground-level food and beverage outlets while spaces throughout the hotel artworks, sophisticated furnishings and intriguing objet d’art. Original features are celebrated, from the majestic marble-clad foyer to the bespoke function rooms, while the beautifully appointed guestrooms and suites feature standalone tubs, custom Italian Frette linen and Haeckels amenities.
