Grant Thornton Australia has appointed Evelyn Moodley (pictured) as its latest partner in its financial advisory practice in Brisbane to bolster its transaction advisory and strategic deal advice capabilities across the state and Australia.
Moodley joins the firm’s deals team, where she will advise clients on acquisitions, divestments, capital transactions, and other significant business decisions.
She brings expertise in her career working across complex domestic and cross-border transactions and has also helped clients through periods of growth, investment and change.
She has more than 20 years of experience in professional services and specialises in transaction advisory services, including financial due diligence, vendor assistance and transaction support.
Moodley is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and has held partner and senior roles at three of the big four Australian firms, commencing as a trainee at EY in South Africa before moving on to manager to partner at Deloitte South Africa, then relocating to Queensland to serve PwC Australia as partner in transaction services.
Moodley received a bachelor of commerce (accounting) honours from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and was a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) until 2023, when she left for Australia.
She has experience in a broad range of industries, including energy and resources, renewable energy, industrials, manufacturing, agribusiness, telecommunications and consumer-facing businesses.
“The most successful transactions are built on a clear understanding of what matters most to the client, whether that’s growth, value creation, risk management or long-term strategic objectives,” Moodley said.
“I was attracted to Grant Thornton’s client-first approach and its strong position in the mid-market. I’m looking forward to working with businesses and investors to help them make confident decisions and achieve successful outcomes.”
Moodley will enhance the firm’s ability to serve mid-market businesses, investors, and organisations seeking practical, commercially focused advice throughout the transaction cycle.
“Clients are increasingly looking for advisers who understand not only the transaction itself, but also the broader commercial and strategic decisions that sit behind it,” said Cameron Bacon, partner and national head of corporate finance at Grant Thornton.
“Eve brings deep transaction experience, a collaborative approach and a strong understanding of the issues clients face as they pursue growth, investment and transformation opportunities. Her appointment further strengthens our ability to support clients through critical moments in their business journey.”
