Scott Guse steps into “iconic” KPMG Qld chairman role
KPMG has appointed Scott Guse to be its Queensland chairman, succeeding previous chairman Michael Hiller.
This week, Scott Guse stepped into the role of KPMG’s Queensland chairman, a role that KPMG lauded as having produced “iconic” Queensland business leaders, such as Rod Wylie, John Allpass, Phil Hennessy, and Rob Jones.
He succeeded chairman Michael Hiller, who held the role from January 2018 to August 2025.
Ahead of his new role, Guse said that he would focus on the corporate sector, where he is well-connected. He added that he would keep an eye out for opportunities arising in the lead-up to the Olympics, which Brisbane is set to host in 2032.
A Brisbane local, Guse boasts 33 years of experience at KPMG. He started as an external audit graduate at the firm’s Brisbane office and made partner in 2004.
His areas of expertise include audit, insurance, accounting standards, adoption of IFRS and public policy. Guse is an ASIC-registered company auditor and has completed multiple secondments in the insurance sector, twice as an insurance company chief financial officer.
KPMG said that Guse has been at the forefront of international insurance developments and has made numerous presentations on industry trends and accounting updates for the insurance industry.
He has also been the client lead partner for high-profile clients, including Suncorp, Allianz, Steadfast and AACo.
