Grant Thornton Brisbane names new tax partner
The professional services firm has welcomed its new corporate tax partner, Matthew Lane.
Gran Thornton has named Matthew Lane as its new corporate tax partner set to be based in the Brisbane office.
The firm noted Lane had over 20 years of experience in corporate tax advisory and had expertise both in-house and as an external consultant, including experience in two big four firms.
Lane also had specialist experience in the financial services industry, having previously held leadership positions in the tax and finance teams of a large Australian superannuation fund.
Tim Hands, Grant Thornton Brisbane head of tax, said the firm was looking forward to welcoming Lane to the team and leveraging his experience and expertise across the team and with clients.
“Matt’s business acumen, alongside his broad tax and financial services industry expertise and ability to navigate complex tax landscapes, is a welcome addition to our team and will complement our already extensive client service offering,” he said.
According to the firm, Lane was set to bring extensive expertise in the financial services sector encompassing superannuation, insurance, funds management and banking.
Lane’s abilities were “further enhanced” by his comprehensive experience in tax matters related to financing arrangements, thin capitalisation, capital management, global tax compliance and tax governance reviews for a variety of clients such as corporate groups, investment funds and high-net-worth family offices.
Hands added that Lane was adept at providing transactional tax support, including tax due diligence, restructuring, domestic and international tax structuring advice, as well as other M&A advisory services.
Lane said he was excited to join Grant Thornton’s Brisbane tax team and bring his specialist experience to add value to clients.
“I’m particularly passionate about financial services and the future of fintech, so it’s pleasing to be able to apply my experience in a corporate tax setting.”
“There’s so much potential for change and growth in the Brisbane fintech market and I am eager to have the opportunity to see the industry change and grow.”
