Grant Thornton makes 11 senior promotions
The internal advancements will grow numerous divisions, including private enterprise, audit and assurance, tax, and financial advisory across multiple capital city locations as part of its ambitious growth targets.
The appointments reflect the depth and diversity of talent within the business, and will facilitate greater internal investment, according to the firm.
Along with Louise Newman as principal, new partners include Dharav Gandhi, Hannah Hollingworth, Jane Gregg, Jethro Byrne, Mia Ni, Noel Verma, Sara Chen, Shoko Awakawa, Stacey Smith, and Tianne Nagy-Jones.
Grant Thornton CEO Said Jahani highlighted that the group brings their individual strengths from a range of diverse backgrounds.
“Every one of these new leaders has shown a high-performance mindset combined with a passion for delivering quality client service,” he continued.
“I was energised by their commitment to taking the next step in their career and am truly thrilled for them.”
On the promotions, he said: “As part of our strategy to shape better futures, we believe in providing clear pathways for our people to senior roles within the firm. Each of these new leaders brings a diverse and unique perspective to the Partnership as well as living our purpose and values – which in turn drives our success as a firm.”
Almost 30 partners have been internally promoted since 1 July 2025, with ten additional lateral hires bringing the firm’s total to 199 following the addition of partners Kevin Mar Fan, David Pitts, Alex Stephanyants, Laura Woodman, and Elna How.
Head of Japan practice and partner Shoko Arakawa said she was looking forward to bringing a combination of cultural fluency, commercial focus, and genuine care for people into the partnership.
“I bring an authentic understanding of how relationships are built and sustained across cultures,” Arakawa said.
“I also bring energy in building something bigger than myself, like developing future leaders, encouraging open feedback, and creating an environment where people feel supported to do their best work.”
Tianne Nagy-Jones said she had a passion for insolvency and restructuring driven by a commitment to delivering practical, high-quality outcomes for clients navigating complex situations.
“I look forward to bringing a fresh dynamic to the restructuring partner groups and building on my experience and relationships to strengthen referral networks and create new opportunities,” Nagy-Jones said.
“I also care deeply about being a visible role model for women and championing environments where support and flexibility enable successful and sustainable careers.”
Private enterprise partner, Mia Ni, said: “I am passionate about collaboration, improving how things are done, and contributing to a high-performing partnership that delivers quality outcomes to our clients and builds trusted relationships over time.”
She added: “I am excited to bring a practical approach shaped by my extensive experience in outsourced CDO and tax advisory work with private enterprises and high-growth businesses.”
The eleven additions will officially commence their roles on 1 July.
