James Momsen joins the Sydney office from GreenMount Advisory.

BDO has recruited tax specialist James Momsen from boutique firm GreenMount Advisory as its latest corporate tax partner, to be based in Sydney.

The firm said Mr Momsen brought almost 20 years of experience including as tax partner at legal firm MinterEllison, tax director at KPMG and most recently as managing director at GreenMount.

BDO NSW office managing partner Grant Saxon said Mr Momsen’s appointment would add significant depth and experience to the tax and corporate finance teams.

“James brings extensive specialist taxation experience in corporate M&A and private equity transactions, further strengthening our corporate tax service offering,” Mr Saxon said.
“James is known for providing a steady hand while guiding clients through a transaction, working closely and collaboratively with a range of other legal and commercial advisers to deliver a smooth and successful outcome.”
Mr Momsen would provide specialised advice on income tax structuring and due diligence on transactions for domestic and international private equity, corporate, property and infrastructure clients across a broad range of industries.

BDO said his expertise included advising financial sponsors on fund structures for private capital investment classes and advising corporate clients on the Australian income tax aspects of cross-border investment, financing, corporate restructuring and capital management transactions.

Mr Momsen said BDO’s culture and market presence drew him to the firm.

“I’m looking forward to joining a highly credentialled professional services firm that is very well placed to assist clients with their challenges in the modern world and is on a growth trajectory both in the Australian market and globally,” Mr Momsen said.

A top 10 accounting firm nationally, BDO’s Sydney CBD office has 73 partners and 547 professional staff, providing the full breadth of accounting, tax and advisory services.
