After 16 years in the team, partner Jarrod Lean steps up at an “exciting time”.

Grant Thornton has promoted Jarrod Lean to national head of risk consulting from his current role as consulting partner.

The firm said Mr Lean, who took up the position at the beginning of the month, had been with Grant Thornton’s risk consulting team for 16 years, focusing on risk management and internal audit work.

He has experience working across a range of sectors including local and state government, manufacturing, property and for-purpose organisations.

“He has demonstrated an ability to identify operational improvements in his client’s business to promote growth and strengthen control environments,” the firm said.

“Jarrod is also dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration and empowerment among the team to develop and grow Grant Thornton’s risk consulting offering nationally.”

Mr Lean said it was a privilege to take on the leadership role at “this exciting time”.

“I’m passionate about building strong relationships with clients in order to help them navigate their business risks and build out risk strategies to ensure their businesses can run smoothly and thrive,” he said.

Mr Lean took over from partner George Sutton, who had led the risk consulting team for the past five years.

“The team experienced significant growth under George’s leadership, resulting in being the largest growing service line for Grant Thornton in FY23,” the firm said.

“George will now focus on further strengthening the firm’s internal audit capability nationally and building its financial services offering.”

National managing partner of consulting Michael Pittendrigh thanked Mr Sutton for his “dedication, vision and passion”.

“George has led our team to such a place where he is able to pass the baton for the next exciting stage of the group’s journey,” Mr Pittendrigh said. “We’re delighted for Jarrod to continue this legacy and to take the group further along its trajectory of development.”

Grant Thornton Australia now has more than 1,300 people working in offices in all the major capitals and Cairns.
