Moore Global promotes COO to CEO

Vivienne Muir (pictured) has been appointed new chief executive of Moore Global.

Muir comes into this role following her time as the network’s chief operating officer, where she guided the network through a period where it grew more than US$5.3 billion in combined revenues across 119 countries.

Currently, the network operates with over 37,000 people in 568 offices across 119 countries, with five independent accounting, audit and advisory firms located in Australia across 13 offices.

Muir has begun in her role engaging in extensive consultation with member firms across the network.

“I’ve been listening. Listening intently to our firms all over the world and, just as importantly, listening to what their clients are saying to them,” Muir said.

“Over the past several months, those conversations have helped us understand where the profession is changing, where new opportunities are emerging and what Moore must do to take the network to the next level.”

The network said that its strategy includes a focus on accelerating growth, strengthening capabilities, and supporting firms through evolving client needs, and creating stronger international connections for successful competition across the global marketplace.

Driven by technological transformation, evolving client expectations, and a growing demand for advisory services, the accounting and advisory professions have entered a period of significant change, Muir said.

Muir said that the network is shifting from a listen-and-learn approach to execution: “The direction of travel is becoming clearer, and my focus is on turning that strategy into meaningful opportunities for our firms and their clients, while preserving the entrepreneurial culture and independence that have always been among Moore’s greatest strengths.

“We have outstanding firms, exceptional people, deep expertise and strong client relationships across the world.

“My role is not to change who we are. It is to help the network realise more of its potential.”

Muir’s appointment follows the network’s promotion of six in early July, and a further six around the same time, its appointment of a new M&A leader in Victoria and Tasmania in early 2025, and three promotions around the same time.
